Picture:Soebox.com.auBlogging has become an important asset in journalism , it provides a platform for journalists to reflect on the topics they cover. Blogs are very useful to journalism students because it is a portfolio that showcases you to your future employers. In the 21st century, you need to have a portfolio of your work on the web. You can provide your work collections and links. Blogging creates a big opportunity for journalisms student and can attract audiences, you will be surprised that people out there can relate to or enjoy your work. One of the advantages of blogging is that you are free to write about the topic of your interest, therefore you get a chance to explore your imagination. Journalism’s student need to be open to criticism, and with blogging there is a comment section where the audiences are allowed to comment. That shouldn’t be seen as a disadvantage but an advantage, because you are receiving feedback from your audience which will help you write better next time.
As a journalist/ journalism student you must keep writing and a blog is the best place to do so daily. When blogging you can practice writing and apply what you are learning. I believe the more you write, you become better in communication, researching, investigating and editing. Blogs are not only about writing, journalism students who love photography, can use blogging as a platform to publish their pictures. Pictures and videos are now vital for anyone who wants to be a journalist. Writing regularly makes the editor and your audience see that you have consistency.
In conclusion journalism students need to have their own blogs and social networks.
