On the 1st of May 2024, South Africa will partake in the seventh national elections to elect a new national assembly and provincial legislature in each province.    There are challenges faced ahead for the IEC due to the budget cut of R2,2 billion, the committee is concerned about the impact it will have on the 2024 upcoming elections.  Image by Andile Human & edited by Deborah Marondo by Deborah Marondo Cape Town  –   A CPUT staff bus was engulfed in fire on Monday while the Vice-Chancellor was addressing staff and students of the institution over ongoing protests regarding substandard hostel facilities.  Earlier this week ,   s tudents of the Mountain House  R esidence  protested  at  the  district   six  campus to raise their concerns  about poor    residence  facilities .  The  students  have been experiencing  intermittent  power cuts from  6 pm  almost  daily . For the past  two months, students have complained that only ice-cold water is available  in   baths   within  the premises.
