There are challenges faced ahead for the IEC due to the budget cut of R2,2 billion, the committee is concerned about the impact it will have on the 2024 upcoming elections. It is a worry that the budget cuts will affect the ability of the IEC to fully fund initiatives to support and foster awareness as well as participation in the general electoral processes. "The unintended consequence of underfunding the IEC will have a practical impact in delivering elections that are free and fair.
