Harold Cressy Secondary is more than just a school

By Deborah Marondo  Harold Cressy High School, Image by schools Digest website.   Harold Cressy high is a secondary school situated in the former District six, Cape Town and the current address today is on 103 Roeland Street, Zonnebloom. The institution was established in January 1951 as the Cape Town Secondary school. Today the school is recognised as a landmark, because of its historical significance during the apartheid era in South Africa. The original building was constructed in 1925 and was first known as the Hewet training college which was the first institution of higher learning for coloured students. In 1953 the institution was named after a coloured head teacher and activist.  Harold Cressy  was the first person of colour in South Africa to obtain a degree. On the 1st of May 2024, South Africa will partake in the seventh national elections to elect a new national assembly and provincial legislature in each province.    There are challenges faced ahead for the IEC due to the budget cut of R2,2 billion, the committee is concerned about the impact it will have on the 2024 upcoming elections. CPUT Staff Bus Engulfed in Fire as VC Addressed Staff and Students

 Image by Andile Human & edited by Deborah Marondo by Deborah Marondo Cape Town  –   A CPUT staff bus was engulfed in fire on Monday while the Vice-Chancellor was addressing staff and students of the institution over ongoing protests regarding substandard hostel facilities.  Earlier this week ,   s tudents of the Mountain House  R esidence  protested  at  the  district   six  campus to raise their concerns  about poor    residence  facilities .  The  students  have been experiencing  intermittent  power cuts from  6 pm  almost  daily . For the past  two months, students have complained that only ice-cold water is available  in   baths   within  the premises. Blogs are very useful to journalism students because it is a portfolio that showcases you to your future employers.  In the 21st century, you need to have a portfolio of your work on the web. You can provide your work collections and links. Blogging creates a big opportunity for journalisms student and can attract audiences, you will be surprised that people out there can relate to or enjoy your work.  One of the advantages of blogging is that you are free to write about the topic of your interest, therefore you get a chance to explore your imagination. He is an author to many novels, short stories, poetry, feature articles and reviews. He is the author of Primary coloured (2007), Five Lives and Noon (2013).
